| About Hagberg's
Ray and Olga Hagberg purchased the market in 1938. The store was located on “main street” (Lake Elmo Avenue) in the building that is now occupied by Lake Elmo Library. Ray and Olga operated the store until 1952 when their son, the current owner, Bill
Hagberg, began working with them. Ray and Olga remained active in the business until the time of Ray’s death in 1967. Prior to his death, Bill’s wife, Pat, began helping and continues to be active in the business.
They built a new building in 1972 and began operating from that site in July of 1972. They continue to operate from that building which is located on Stillwater Boulevard (Highway 5). Bill and Pat’s son, Keith, began working full time at the store in 1985 and was later joined by his brother, Billy, in 1996, making this the third generation of Hagbergs to operate this business. In October of 1990, they added gasoline services to the business.
The store has always focused on a very high quality of meat and is known throughout the metropolitan area for their wonderful meats, smoked meats, personal services and helpful staff. The produce department has continued to be a very strong department within the store as well as the deli department, both of which offer many freshly prepared specialty items including vegetable trays, meat and cheese trays, fruit trays and baskets, and various prepared items for entertaining, including shredded beef, pork, beef
au jus, barbequed ribs, etc.
